NAKHON RATCHASIMA -- Five Cambodian nationals have been arrested for illegal entry and poaching of protected phayung wood in Thap Lan National Park of Soeng Sang district. The five men, aged 18-25, were rounded up by national park rangers in a forest near Bo Ling village in tambon Non Somboon late Monday night while taking 85 planks of processed phayung (Siamese rosewood) out of the national park. They were taken to the 4th office of Thap Lan National Park at Lam Plai Mat for questioning on Tuesday morning. They were later taken to Thap Lan National Park and deployed in groups to fell phayung trees and process the timber. They were arrested while delivering processed wood out of the park.
